UConn’s Lenehan rewarded with scholarship

UConn coach Kevin Ollie has rewarded walk-on guard Pat Lenehan with a scholarship for the 2014-15 season. Lenehan, out of Xavier High School in Middletown, Conn., has been a walk-on with the Huskies the past two seasons and will be a senior next season.

Lenehan, 6-3 and 181 pounds, is an outstanding student who recently earned a Goldwater Scholarship for math and science students. He has appeared in nine games for the Huskies, eight of those last season. His first basket in a UConn uniform was a three-pointer against South Florida at the XL Center in Hartford last season. That made him a YouTube star.

The addition of Lenehan brings UConn’s scholarship total to 11, two under the NCAA maximum for men’s basketball.
