Talking UConn football, John Toner’s legacy tonight on SMCRadio.com

It’s Thursday night, so that means a new episode of College Countdown with Ken Davis will air from 8-9 p.m. ET. Please listen in live, either on SMCRadio.com or with the TuneIn app on your mobile device.  Of course, everyone is invited to call in and join any discussion, ask questions, make a statement – whatever you want.

Our toll free caller line is 1-844-430-7621.

Tonight, we will be discussing UConn football, the loss to USF, the upcoming game against Temple, and coach Bob Diaco’s “ping pong” decision in Tampa last Friday. You will hear from quarterback Chandler Whitmer talking about the UConn offense and cornerback Byron Jones, who returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown against the Bulls.

We will discuss the legacy of former UConn athletic director John Toner, who passed away Monday at age 91. Toner was a giant in college athletics on the national scale and a man who changed the face of UConn athletics. His death has been felt throughout college athletics. We will talk to Steve Hatchell, president and CEO of The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame, about his long friendship with Toner and how the resourceful New Englander should be remembered.

Then we will take a tour of the national scene, checking in on headlines from East Carolina, Texas, Kansas, Auburn, Kansas State, Florida State, Clemson, UCLA, Arizona State, USC and Yale. But the discussion is always open to your own topics. Again, the number to join the show is 1-844-430-SMC1 (7621).
