The Huskies are headed back to the White House.
The UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams will be welcomed by President Obama next Monday, June 9. The announcement came from the White House Wednesday. The date is still subject to change, based on the President’s schedule, but it is no longer tentative at this point.
“This visit will also continue the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to their communities,” the White House press release said.
Of course, the UConn women are regular visitors to the White House. And the last time President Obama greeted them, there was a little controversy over this.
What will happen when Geno Auriemma’s team returns? It was on Stefanie Dolson’s mind back in April when the women repeated as champions.
Guess we will find out on Monday.
