It’s almost time for the 2014 NBA Draft to begin. Here are some last minute predictions:
No. 1 pick: Cleveland keeps the pick and takes Andrew Wiggins of Kansas. Wiggins becomes the first Jayhawks selected No. 1 overall since Danny Manning went to the Los Angeles Clippers in 1988. Don’t be surprised if he gets traded to Philadelphia – even though that would be a stupid move by Cleveland.
Joel Embiid: Will go to the Boston Celtics with the No. 6 pick overall – despite concerns about injuries and health. I’d draft him just for saying “Disappointment is inevitable . . . Discouragement is a choice.”
Shabazz Napier: Is headed to Florida, but not to the Miami Heat. UConn’s point guard will be taken by the Orlando Magic with the No. 12 pick overall.
DeAndre Daniels: Will have to wait a while to hear his name called. The junior from UConn is headed to Philly. The 76ers take him with the 52nd pick overall.
Most used phrase by ESPN on draft night: Salary cap flexibility.
Commissioner Adam Silver: Will be cheered when introduced. That will be different, huh?
