It took Kentucky just one game on a big stage to put the rest of the nation on alert. John Calipari’s two-platoon system looked more than solid as the Wildcats used defense to rip apart the Kansas Jayhawks, ranked No. 5 by The Associated Press, in the Champions Classic Tuesday night. Kentucky blocked 11 shots and held Kansas to 19.6 percent shooting. The Jayhawks had as many turnovers as made baskets (11) on the way to a 72-40 loss.
