UConn’s Purvis has left ankle sprain

UConn guard Rodney Purvis has been diagnosed with a left ankle sprain. Purvis, injured Sunday in UConn’s loss to West Virginia in Puerto Rico, is not expected to practice with the Huskies Thursday but UConn officials said he is “probable” for Sunday’s game against Texas in Storrs.

Purvis started against West Virginia and played 21 minutes. He did not score and was 0-for-5 from the field.

Wednesday’s release from UConn said there was no further update on the status of players. That means there has yet to be any changes in the status of Omar Calhoun, Rakim Lubin, Dan Guest and Marcel Lewis, who were suspended for the West Virginia game due to a violation of team rules. Their status was to be reevaluated upon returning to Storrs.
