UConn guards still healing

UConn guards Ryan Boatright, Rodney Purvis and Omar Calhoun are still recovering from injuries. The Huskies’ next game is Friday against Yale.

Boatright was injured at the end of Sunday’s loss to Texas. X-rays taken Monday showed no structural damage and he was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle. He was in a walking boot Tuesday.

UConn’s athletics communications office released updates on all three late Tuesday afternoon. Here’s that injury report:

“Ryan Boatright had X-rays taken Monday afternoon, which were negative for any structural damage, so he has been diagnosed with a sprained left ankle and spent most of Tuesday in a walking boot. He did not practice Tuesday, but received treatment and tried some walking drills. He obviously will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis and his status for Friday’s game remains undetermined.

“Rodney Purvis was also held out of practice on Tuesday as he tries to recover from a high left ankle sprain , but he did do some light shooting on the sideline. He may see some practice time on Wednesday and depending on how the ankle reacts, could practice more fully on Thursday. That will also determine if he plays on Friday night.

Omar Calhoun did practice on Tuesday and, barring any setbacks with his sprained right MCL coming off practice, he will likely practice Wednesday and Thursday, but his recovery will be monitored one day at a time. If it is determined that his knee is 100 percent after going through the practices, he could dress Friday.”
