Temple senior guard Will Cummings played in the NIT semifinals at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night. He will be in Indianapolis, site of the NCAA Final Four this weekend, on Friday to play in the 2015 Reese’s Division I College All-Star game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Tuesday announced rosters for the game, played annually as part of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.
Cummings will be the only senior representing the American Athletic Conference in the game.
The game features a pair of top college coaches, the University of Nebraska’s Tim Miles and Jim Crews of Saint Louis University. Miles will coach the East team while Crews will guide the West team. The senior All-Star players were selected by member coaches of the NABC.
UConn’s Ryan Boatright declined an offer to play in the all-star game. He will participate in the State Farm 3-point shooting contest at Butler University’s Hinkle Fieldhouse on Thursday night (7 p.m., ESPN). Boatright will compete against Alex Barlow (Butler), Marr Carloino (Marquette), Corey Hawkins (UC Davis), Darrun Hillard (Villanova), Jordan Siber (Dayton), Pat Connaughton (Notre Dame) and Kevin Pangos (Gonzaga). Shaw McKissic of Arizona State, who beat UConn in the NIT, and Takee Cotton of Wichita State are among the participants in the slam dunk contest the same night.
Intersport, the sponsor of the Thursday event, pays for the expenses of the participating players.
