LAWRENCE, Kan. – Andrew Wiggins has been called disappointing. The critics have said he hasn’t lived up to expectations. He has gone from the prize of college basketball’s freshman class, to fourth or fifth place among the rookies likely to stay just one season and then head to the NBA. It has all been blatantly […]
FoxSports.com college basketball power rankings – Jan. 29
Michigan on the rise in my power rankings for FoxSports.com this week.
Carrier Dome, no sweet home?
Syracuse University wants a new dome. According to The Post-Standard newspaper in Syracuse, University officials are proposing construction of a 44,000 seat building with a retractable roof at a cost of $495 million. Wow. UConn better get going on those Gampel Pavilion renovations. The Carrier Dome opened in 1980. Gampel opened in 1990. Of course, the […]
Battle for Michigan highlights weekend schedule
Don’t know what the weather may be like where you live, but here in Connecticut we are having a heat wave. Temperatures are surging toward 30 degrees. The wind chill is in the teens, not below zero. Of course, the forecast is for some snow showers. Nothing major, but there’s absolutely no incentive to go […]
How does UConn’s hiring of Diaco rank among nation’s new coaches?
I read an interesting piece today by my long time friend Dennis Dodd, Senior College Football Columnist for CBSSports.com. FoxSports.com college basketball power rankings – Jan. 22
In the aftermath of realignment, it is sometimes easy to forget who plays in which conference, who moved this season and who will move next season. And despite the name “Big 12” the most powerful basketball conference in the nation right now has only 10 teams. That is worth mentioning because most prognosticators believe seven […]
UConn’s Boatright battles on, despite the heartache
UPDATE: Ryan Boatright did return to Aurora, Ill., to be with family and friends after the death of his cousin. UConn coach Kevin Ollie told reporters Monday that Boatright could be back for Tuesday’s game against Temple, but Ollie isn’t planning on that. If Boatright isn’t back, that could mean more minutes for freshman […]
