No respect for Huskies from Lindy’s preview

Just picked up the Lindy’s Sports college basketball 2014-15 preview. Pretty shocked that the UConn men, the defending national champions, are not in the preseason Top 25. In fact, the Huskies are not even close.

UConn is picked No. 36.

That’s right, 36th.

Here is Lindy’s Top 10: 1. Kentucky, 2. Wisconsin, 3. Arizona, 4. Texas, 5. North Carolina, 6. Kansas, 7. Virginia, 8. Duke, 9. Gonzaga, 10. Iowa State.

11 through 20: 11. Louisville, 12. Florida, 13. Wichita State, 14. Ohio State, 15. Villanova, 16. Colorado, 17. SMU, 18. Harvard, 19. Nebraska, 20. North Carolina State

21-25:  21. Minnesota, 22. Illinois, 23. Syracuse, 24. Michigan, 25. UTEP

Of course, these preseason lists mean nothing. But I do think the Huskies are good enough and should be in the top 15-20 mix.

Earlier this month we put up a post that the Sporting News picked UConn No. 15. Interesting, huh?

By the way, in the American Athletic Conference picks, SMU is No. 1, followed by UConn and Memphis. But in the national rankings, Memphis is 30, six spots ahead of UConn. Does that make any sense?

Ryan Boatright does share the regional cover with Olivier Hanlan of Boston College and Harvard’s Siyani Chambers. And the UConn women are picked to repeat as national champs.
