Back in business at The Files

My apologies to followers of this blog. I’ve heard from some who are missing our posts. Well, I’m glad to say we are back at it.

I was shut down for about four days last week with laptop computer problems. Those have been fixed. Then I took a four-day weekend vacation home to Kansas City for some intense major league baseball, to visit family, to have some Joe’s Kansas City barbeque (the best in the world), some ballpark hot dogs (Buck Night is a great concept) and a Boulevard Wheat or two. My hometown Royals only took one of the three games, but it was fun and the The Hunt for Blue October continues with the Royals just one game behind the Tigers in the AL Central heading into Tuesday night’s action.

A lot to write about this week. And I’m preparing for my next “College Countdown with Ken Davis” show on SMCRadio.com. Tune in Thursday night from 8-9 p.m. ET. Or check the archives here or on iTunes podcasts.

Came back to sad news this morning. Former UConn athletic director John Toner, who hired Geno Auriemma and Jim Calhoun, led the Huskies into the Big East, and oversaw the construction of Gampel Pavilion, died this morning at the age of 91. Calhoun told me this afternoon he will always be “indebted” to Toner. “He changed the face of the university and the way the school viewed athletics,” Calhoun said.

Check in later today for a look at Toner’s legacy and more comments from Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun.
