UConn gets commitment from highly-ranked power forward

Kevin Ollie and the UConn basketball coaching staff are putting together a high-quality recruiting class for 2016. Power forward Juwan Durham, a top 30 or top 50 prospect depending on the ratings service, committed to Connecticut Tuesday. He made the announcement on Twitter after visiting the campus in Storrs last weekend.

Durham is the third member of UConn’s recruiting class. He joins five-star point guard Alterique Gilbert and four-star center Mamadou Diarra. All are ESPN top 100 prospects.

UConn is taking a bit of a risk because of a recent ACL injury for Durham. But with a full recovery, Durham figures to be a steal so early in the recruiting period. The early signing period is in November. An oral commitment is not binding until a player signs a letter of intent with the school.
