Hurricane Irma forces change in UConn-USF kickoff

Kickoff time for Saturday’s American Athletic Conference football game between Connecticut and USF has been moved to 10:30 a.m.in anticipation of any travel plans South Florida may encounter in relation to Hurricane Irma.

The game at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field was scheduled for noon. Officials from UConn, USF and the AAC reviewed contingency plans and decided to move to the earlier kickoff. Cancellation of the game was considered but the teams do not have a common bye date.

The game will be televised live on ESPNews. Tailgate lots will open for season ticket holders at 6:00 a.m. and to general ticket holders at 6:30 a.m. Fans are invited to join the UConn team for the Husky Walk at 8 a.m.

Halftime of Saturday’s game will be 15 minutes in length. The USF travel party will depart East Hartford as soon as possible following the game in order to board its charter flight; as a result, there will be no onsite media sessions with USF following the game.

Depending on the path of the storm, further changes could be announced. Fans are encouraged to check UConnHuskies.com for up to date information.
