Daniels headed to NBA, tweets UConn fans

Final7Junior forward DeAndre Daniels of the national champions UConn Huskies has decided to leave school after his junior season and enter the NBA draft. Yahoo! Sports was first to report the news, citing NBA sources.

There has been no statement from UConn. Daniels, however, has retweeted several messages on his Twitter account congratulating him on his decision. One of those was from UConn recruit Daniel Hamilton, who wrote. “Congrats to the big bro on his decision today @D_Daniels2.”

And after that, Daniels tweeted a message to UConn fans.

Daniels, a 6-9 froward, played his best basketball during the NCAA tournament as the Huskies made their run to the national championship. It became obvious in Dallas that he was leaning toward leaving early.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is Sunday night.

UConn now awaits the final decision of guard Ryan Boatright. Those close to the program have indicated Boatright wants to leave early as well. He was honored in his home town of Aurora, Ill., last weekend and was discussing his decision with his family.

UPDATE: UConn coach Kevin Ollie has confirmed to ESPN.com that Boatright will return for his senior season.
